Research Group Roles — Ambika’s Portfolio

4 Min reflection 10-15-19

Since I have started the group research project I feel pretty certain about communication. We have set up two group chats for our project. The thing I am concerned about is myself. I have never really had to do a group project this damanding and so relayed on everyone. Im just worried that I’ll accidentally forgot to read or to do a blog post and let my teammates down. I just need to rely on myself more and I should make a calendar to keep myself on track.

Blog Post #7 assignment

I am in the group for analysis of literacy history and I had to read “Notes Toward a Theory of Prior Knowledge.” To me I found the reading to be something of a drag.

The article was all about the transfer of knowledge. It talks about how students are more motivated to improve their writing when they realize that what they are learning can and will be transferred in the future. The article mainly talks about the use of prior knowledge. They say that poor knowledge can be beneficial and/ or a detriment. If you can build off of your prior knowledge for that task its beneficial but if your prior knowledge is at odds with your new tasks its a detriment. The absence of prior knowledge can also be a detriment for you.

The article also talks about how the test are meant to push you to better yourself they can also mis-shape you.

Cisneros’s father did want her to go to college but his intention was for her to find a husband.
